A factually incorrect narrative. Any of the J6 protesters who were in custody could have invoked their constitutional right to a speedy trial at any time of their confinement. To remain in custody means they waived their speedy trial rights.
Howell and Boasberg just happen to be the chief judges of the DC District court, in succession, so their name becomes a touchstone for those ignorant of court governance and basic criminal legal practice.
