As the ceasefire began, Tehran was already reshaping the terms of the agreement to its advantage rather than adhering to its spirit. On Wednesday, Tehran only allowed 12 cargo tankers to pass through the strait.

This sharply contrasts with pre-conflict levels, when more than 100 vessels could transit the strategic waterway daily.

With Vice President JD Vance in Islamabad on Friday for direct negotiations with Iran

“Considering that 32,000 vessels passed through the strait last year, and each vessel is subject to a $2 mln fee, Iran could potentially receive around $64 bln”

Hassan Abedini, deputy head of Iran’s state broadcaster

"Don’t stop till you see a stick with a white flag on it, waving from a rat hole."

Better plan: don't stop until you don't see anything moving, at all.

Let’s not forget their negotiators keep getting blown up. Seems a high risk job. Probably shouldn’t send Kushner and Witkoff either.

I suspect Trump is using these 2 weeks to assess the situation... and make a plan.

The plan should include whatever loudmouth Iranian is proclaiming victory to be splattered on a wall somewhere

At the end of two weeks, he can easily say “ok, see???? they lied again” and finish the job

I will not be happy if they don’t get the enriched uranium.

Well, those are actually canals that had to be built. Hormuz should be free passage, nothing built there that needs to be maintained.

This “plan” should have been made 2 months ago.

You mean BEFORE they destroyed everything they have?

You don’t think some re-adjustment might be called for?

This is devolving into another Ukraine FR squabble with the haters rooting for I-ran to hold out; they want Trump to lose, America be damned.

Nah. I’d hire a reproductive choice doctor to stab it in the back of the head. Leave it to the professionals.

The same could be said for any body of water, or any land mass.

Maintenance of the petrodollar system is the most important goal the United States needs to accomplish. Because when Nixon and Kissinger developed this system in the early 1970s, it caused countries selling oil and natural gas to invest excess funds into U.S. Treasury instruments, thus funding the burgeoning national debt. If Iran can compel purchasing countries to buy oil, natural gas, and products like urea and phosphates in yuan or bitcoin rather than dollars, the petrodollar system will be broken. That will mean that the Treasury will no longer have the option of exporting our inflation.

The use of shock and awe and the assassination of numerous Iranian leaders have not succeeded in defeating Iran. Repeating these tactics will not work; the only way to defeat the mullahs is through a land invasion using large numbers of American troops, with strong assistance from Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf States, encouraging Turkey and Pakistan to open new fronts on Iran's flanks, and supporting internal armed rebellion.

Given the string of electoral defeats the Republicans suffered even before the war began, the unpopularity of the war among Democrats, independents, and the alt-right, and the historical beatings the party in power has suffered due to unpopular wars (Johnson in 1968 and the younger Bush in 2006), what is needed to topple the mullahs is not achievable, even if desirable. The political will to do what is necessary does not exist.

However, we and the Israelis have the military upper hand and we can offer a promise not to attack and even withdrawing from the Persian Gulf area in exchange for maintaining the petrodollar system.

I’m sorry that I refuse to just CLAP LOUDER or blindly trust.

But I learned my lesson from 2003 - and Iraq a lot “easier” than Iran.

Post-fact say all the crap you want about “47 years” - but there’s a logical reason every prior administration, including the first DJT term, didn’t try to “solve” the Iran problem.

Post all the vague powerpoint bullets you want about the “goal”.... but none of them answer the THEN WHAT.

And that’s the problem. THEN WHAT?

Reality has a funny way of denying the “thank you for freeing us!” parades.... be it in Baghdad or Tehran.

Sounds more like piracy. What did Iran do to create the Strait. How are they enforcing the closure? Who decided how much to charge? Take that asshole out.

What did either do to create the Strait? What does either do to maintain it? Sounds more like piracy.
