Olympic fans shocked by ‘insane’ hidden charge for LA28 tickets
NY Post ^ | 4/04/26 | Katie Jerkovich

Fans scrambling to secure LA28 tickets are getting a nasty surprise at checkout – with hundreds of dollars in fees suddenly tacked onto their orders.

The first drop of presale tickets for locals to attend the 2028 Summer Olympics dropped on Thursday and Angelenos couldn’t believe the final purchase price included a whopping 24% service fee.

Tickets to the highly-anticipated Games start at just $28 but can cost as much as $2,000 depending on the event or the package.

So tickets packages to see the prestigious track and field gold medal events cost from $2,350 to $8,250 for premium seats.

Lori Rovner of Manhattan Beach told the LAIst she was finally able to purchase tickets to the games after receiving several “access denied” messages.

Her total for 16 tickets was $2,604.63, with the tickets costing $2,100, with a service fee of $504.63.

“It’s insane,” Rovner said. “I don’t understand what the service is.”

One user on Reddit’s Olympics thread shared a screenshot of their cart. They purchased ten tickets to five different events, for swimming, basketball and soccer. The total cost for all of it was more than $11,000.

But it was the service fee that really stood out, costing them $1,038.22.

My Uncle lived in Pasedena during the 84 games. It was free to watch at some of the events.

Well, after all, the cost of hiring illegal alien slave labor to pick up the garbage after the gringos is going to be astronomical. These new “better life” maggots aren’t going to work for free anymore. The gringos are going to have to come off some big bucks. They’ll be fighting their way across the border to get themselves lots of gringo olympic dollars. The cartels will be rolling in the big money with the “better life” maggots coming off 10 grand to get them to sneak them into America. And thanks to the far-left, Nazi DemoRATS fighting with ICE, they’ll be nobody at the borders to stop the illegal alien raiders.

1932 Olympics: the country is doing badly, but LA is a young, growing confident city. The city of the future.

1984 Olympics: almost peak LA — or just a bit past peak LA. The country is coming back, and the president who’s doing it is an Angelino. LA is still great but starting to decay.

2008 Olympics: LA is pretty much hell and getting worse all the time.

This is how Castro Commies fight "unaffordability". We live in Northern Commiefornia and we like to escape the summer heat of the valley by spending a week or two in Monterey or Ft. Bragg or some other coastal location. The last time we were in Monterey was about 10 years ago. On top of the 10% occupancy tax for the privilege of staying in a hotel, we were charged 12 dollars a night for parking our car in the hotel parking lot.

Commies despise Capitalism but they sure love money .

There is a simple two letter word that would keep every one of these people from being squeezed.

NO

In spite of their whining, they really do have a choice. They are not being forced to buy these tickets and pay these fees.

That's because it's a weight loss drug. It's on tv all the time. Oh oh oh Olympics...

Bribes to be paid to Olympic officials in judging events, kickbacks to pols for some unknown reason, and the usual booze, drugs and hookers for all the honchos, payoffs to union labor, etc.

Sounds pretty reasonble to me when you consider the Fact that the City needs to relocate tens of thousands homeless drug addicts that call these event sites Home.

“That is quit a list of fees.”

Check your bills. You might find some are in there that are just as ridiculous. It wasn’t until 2006 that the fee for paying for the “Spanish/American war was finally removed from phone bills. That war was in 1898.

“I can restructure my fees.”

Don’t forget the turning out your office lights fee when you close and walk to your Rolls-Royce and your chauffeur. He/she can be hired soon.

These kinds of fees are killing live concerts for years now.

That and parking fees are many times more than the event cost itself.

I find myself wondering how the city will ever have a venue ready in time when its bureaucrats can’t even assist fire victims in rebuilding, even after one year. The cynic in me hopes it all blows up in Bass’s face, but then I’ve left my enjoyent of the Olympics in the rear view mirror.

Last time I watched any of the summer games was 2012 in London. I think the opening ceremonies where they did a long segment praising the UK National Health program was the final straw for me. Yeah it’s had a leftist political overtone to it going way back but that did it for me. They’ve been pretty much dead to me ever since.
