A scheduled execution in Florida will not happen on Tuesday.
It comes after the Florida Supreme Court refused to lift the stay of execution it granted to the former police officer.
James Duckett was convicted of sexual battery and the murder of an 11-year-old girl in 1987.
His legal team requested DNA testing, which they hoped would clear Duckett, and the results were inconclusive.
Florida’s Attorney General then requested that the stay of execution be lifted, but the Florida Supreme Court refused.
Grace Hanna is the Executive Director for Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty.
“It’s very rare, particularly in Florida, where we have gone from having very few executions to having a pretty phenomenal case of executions in the past year,” Hanna told WMNF.
Meanwhile, on Monday, DeSantis signed a death warrant for James Ernest Hitchcock.
He was convicted of raping and murdering his brother’s 13-year-old stepdaughter in 1976.
If a man is guilty of a capital crime, he should be executed.
If a man is innocent of the crime, he should be allowed to live.
What you’re saying here is exactly what’s always been said by those presuming to give an adequate assessment of the system.
But it’s an inadequate assessment, because it allows and even promotes enablement of corruptions.
A different approach would greatly reduce corruption, which would save innocent people from being executed.
The corrupt have significant resistance to fixing the corruption.
Makes a lot more sense to question any given questionable case than to say “I trust the system.”
Corruption is increasing with each passing year... It is not decreasing. The only reasoning I can conjure up is that nobody gets convicted, especially if they are politically connected. The Donald and the Bush’s had no need for money... They were already wealthy.
The Clinton’s, Obama and Biden sold their souls to the devil to get their wealth and in doing so, they sold a lot of other souls to the devil as well. They created vast amounts of wealth for their supporters and nobody went to jail... Nobody.
Same thing here in Canada. Most of the politicians are in it for the money... Maybe they don’t all start out that way, but in the end... The money is there for the taking... So they take it and when they see former politicians who took it walking free... They feel free enough to do so knowing they will never face justice.
The more corruption permeates society... The more likely that society will eventually crumble because of it. The Roman empire didn’t ‘disappear’... It just ran out of money and the natural succession to a society with no money is anarchy or what they commonly refer to now as the ‘dark ages’. The dark ages are coming again... It’s just a matter of time. I won’t likely see it... It may even take another generation or two... But money will eventually mean nothing. When that happens... You better own some land and you better know how to handle farm animals and plant crops... Because that’s how you will survive when money becomes useless.
When those dark ages do come... There will be only one type of justice. Those with the food and the weapons will be in charge and dole out justice with force. Innocence will mean nothing.. Money will mean nothing... Brute force will rule everything.
For quite a long time the seats of corruption have been:
1. Iran
2. Venezuela
3. Cuba
4. North Korea
Are you connecting the dots yet?
The Ukraine is another seat of corruption which enables the corrupt activities in our country.
Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea and the Ukraine are all black sites.
A black site is where criminal operations can occur unseen.
Hence the word “black.”
