40+ years ago, it was common for the military to participate in movies and stunts (they (govt) were usually paid for it).
Nowadays, everything is public and toxic.
Not sure how much he is worth, but (estimated cost) $30,000/ hour of pilot+chopper maintenance+fuel ...

Army Helicopter pilots have been doing similar things ever since there were helicopters.
I knew one NG pilot that flew his helicopter under the Tennessee River bridge. Got away with it because no one really wanted to make a big deal out of it, because he pulled it off with no injuries or damage, and because someone transposed the last two tail numbers. He retired a BG.
I remember back in the 90’s watching a pair of seacobra’s slowly moving down about a 1/2 mile off the beach near Panama City. In my binoculars I could see the 20mm’s waving back and forth pointing at the beach. All I could think of was the view in the HUD’s must have been mighty fine that day.
I was at a beach in Florida when two F-18’s flew by fast and low to the cheers of the beachgoers. It seemed to be a regular occurrence.
I’m sure Karen complained.
