Does anyone else here remember when people dressed up to go to church? Those days seem like they are long gone

Or go to court. I’ve been to court several times this past winter over someone trespassing on my property at will. I was dressed casual, but still looked like I just stepped off the cover of Gentlemen’s Quarterly. The judge was looking at me like who the **** is this guy, lol. I believe he thought I was from the state and monitoring his court. And yes, I still continue to be a victim. He’ll be seeing me again.

My favorites brown shoes:

Still do.

I also dress to meet clients.

Professional women who consider black pants and a top the height of daily fashion look like losers..

Funny odd story.

Had to go back to work after many years out of workforce. Bought a basic wardrobe of cream and conservative colors. Dresses and jackets.

Remember I was raised by women with birthdates from 1880 to 1920.

I get into work snd all the women. Particularly management were wearing black pantsuits. Looked like a flock of crows.

Now my old fashioned perspective taught me is no one wore black before 5 pm. Except household help and shopgirls. My grandmother’s buyer and all the women at good stores stood out because they wore black.

So to me whenever management gathered it looked like maid’s night out.

Took me a bit to readjust the perspective.

I wear cargo pants to church. Makes concealed carry easier. Used to wear jeans. Been going to church for 50 years without wearing a suit. At least 95% of the congregation is dressed like me.

The dress codes popping up largely target fat black women wearing thongs.

Sheeeeeyit. I used to work at a church. One of our Pastors wore sandals and Hawaiian looking shirts. The only time he was seen wearing anything remotely formal was when the church sent the staff on their annual cruise and they pisted pics of themselves wearing tuxedos to dinner on Formal Dress Night. Guts would attend weddings and funerals wearing t-shirts and shorts and flip flops. Girls would dress like they were going clubbing. Disgraceful.

My mother once complained about a poorly dressed man at Sunday Mass. My father snapped back, "At least he's here."

I recently decided to up my game and dress appropriately for church: dress slacks, white shirt, tie, sport coat. It turned out that it is not really uncomfortable and easy to do.

I had been going to a church with casual dress attire for about a year. The pastor wore jeans and polo shirts.

When I started looking for a new church, one of the requirements was that the pastor should dress appropriately. It’s a sign of respect.

I found a new church. The pastor wears a suit and tie every Sunday. I do too. About half of the congregation dresses casually and the other half more formally.
