WASHINGTON — House Republicans are preparing to reject a Senate-passed funding bill to reopen most of the Department of Homeland Security, prolonging a more than 40-day shutdown.

The impasse could mean more pain for hundreds of thousands of federal workers who are missing paychecks, and no permanent solution for long lines at airport security checkpoints.

“It’s not going to pass as it is,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) told The Post less than an hour after former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows posted on X that the DHS bill was “dead in the House.”

He’s in a runoff to choose a successor to Atty. Gen. Paxton. The opponent, a man named Middleton, is not as well-known as Roy and apparently has virtually no legal experience.

The legacy media is not as strong as they think they are.

Kiss November goodbye. The war was a tough enough issue, but since a Republican Congress is rejecting the product of a Republican Senate, the GOP now irrefutably owns the shutdown.

Should be Easter for these congress critters before they get this bill settled. They just seem to feel nothing for the people who need to be working; who probably can’t afford any Easter break. Come to think of it, we never got any Easter break where I worked, EVER. And we had to actually turn in real work to get an often poor paycheck at all. I guess you can tell I hardly feel any remorse for our congress critters. True enough.

From Trump’s EO-—

“””” This is an unprecedented emergency situation.””””

If a judge were to block this EO, then Trump can call Congress into session immediately.

Interpretation: Article II, Section 3 | Constitution Center

Article II, Section 3 grants and constrains presidential power. This Section invests the President with the discretion to convene Congress on “extraordinary occasions,” a power that has been used to summon the chambers to consider nominations, war declarations, and emergency legislation.

It gives them nothing. They got none of the reforms of ice they wanted.

It doesnt give them what they want because that part is not funded. What makes anyone think they will participate in future funding now that its just ICE and CBP. We did not win.

ICCE is already funded through 2029. The TSA agents are being payed. ICE is reducing Airport lines. The GOP is going on offense now!

Fox News is once again equivocating and has on for coverage of the breaking House news that the House Pubs consider the Senate bill sent over to them to be a joke, are a bunch of RINO’s. Even John Roberts can’t seem to see the forest through the trees.

And Chad Pergrum, a snake-in-the-grass Dem-leaning spokesperson Fox has to cover Congress, constantly commits the sin of omission by trying to make it sound like the House Pubs are at fault for the impasse when it once again is the Dems.

What the snake Pergrum omits is that ICE and Border control administrative staff, that keeps the departments running and would effectively make it impossible for these Depts to function, will not be paid at all.

I hate all the RINO’s (or secret Dems) that infest Fox, and with the exception of a few of their hosts, I now go to NewsMax, in particular for the evening lineup (Ed Henry/Carl Higbie/the 2 Robs, Schmidt and Finnerty) and other good hosts. No wonder Prez Trump prefers NewsMax.

And all Fox News Polls are manipulated to make Trump look bad at every turn. Fox News as to much of their programming, disgusts me. Their globalist owner, Rupert Murdoch dislikes Trump, Paul Ryan, a Trump hater, is on their Board of Directors, and they are chock full of BushBots, no friends of Trump, such as Brit Hume, good friend of Jeb Bush, Bret Baier whose mentor was Brit Hume, Karl Rove, who uses anti-Trump Pacs to work against Trump whom he hates (another Bush family shill), Dana Perino who worked for the Bush WH, and others. Give me NewsMax, with few exceptions, over Fox. Fox lies, commits constantly the sin of omission, has hosts that mouth off without knowing the full information (such as ICE/Border control administrative staff not being funded at all (zero funding in Senate version of bill done in the middle of the night and foisted on the House). And even when this was pointed out to them by only a couple of outside commentators, they are still spouting the House Pubs blew it by not supporting the Senate version of the bill. They make me sick.

The staff for ICE and CBP… the paper processors and the office staff…still don’t get paid in this bill.

Thanks for pointing that out. It was my understanding that will delay/postpone deportations. We got nothing from this funding bill.

ICE agents are funded thru 2029 but there was an article stating that support staff for ICE and CBP were not getting paid. These are the people who are responsible for paperwork...from detentions to deportations etc. I dont want deportations held up...do you?

They’ve been right all along and are still right.

Where has all these uninformed drones came from? The Senate bill is a sell out pure and simple, they dropped this pile of crap at 3:00 in the morning and hoped that would quite down the lack of SAA discussion , that they wish they could duck all together.

What politician in their right mind could possibly want illegals to vote? Only those that benefit from that illegal voter would be against the Save America Act.

Thank goodness the House won’t pass it. You cannot go around defunding legitimate government agencies.

“I tend to think the House needs to pass the Senate bill.”

From the article:

“House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain flagged multiple concerns with the text of the Senate’s DHS funding bill, including a section that read: “US Customs and Border Protection Act shall have no force or effect for purposes of this act.”

“So that’s a big concern,” she gasped, explaining that the Senate bill defangs CBP’s immigration enforcement operations.”

Still think so?
