House GOP poised to reject Senate-passed DHS funding bill — leaving no end in sight for airport chaos

WASHINGTON — House Republicans are preparing to reject a Senate-passed funding bill to reopen most of the Department of Homeland Security, prolonging a more than 40-day shutdown.

The impasse could mean more pain for hundreds of thousands of federal workers who are missing paychecks, and no permanent solution for long lines at airport security checkpoints.

“It’s not going to pass as it is,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) told The Post less than an hour after former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows posted on X that the DHS bill was “dead in the House.”

It’s confusing and Johnson doesn’t explain it well.

Any elected Republicans doing pressers in airports to show the mess Democrats made?

Incorrect.
House GOP is not in a corner.
They’ve been right all along and are still right.

So confusing. They don’t explain it well.

Trump needs to clarify. He’s better at it.

“”””As usual, Senate Repukes rolled over for the RATS.””””

The Republicans are the MAJORITY PARTY in the Senate.

The Republican MAJORITY LEADER could have declared that today, Saturday, Sunday will be regular session days and that there would not be an Easter Recess until the TSA bill gets resolved.

Instead, MAJORITY LEADER THUNE lets the Senate leave for two weeks.

The Senate Republicans have the Power Position and refuse to use it to resolve the TSA mess and the Save America Act mess.

Killing the bill is a good thing. The most patriotic house members want to kill this weak bill which was passed by voice vote at 1am with only a few (5)senators present.
This bill is a betrayal of POTUS, of Anericabs & of the Senators who were working through a standing fillibuster to pass SAVE America Act.
This act was passed to let the Senate go on vacation for two weeks with plausible cover for their treasonous behavior.
It gets the Democrats off the hook and derails the pressure to pass a full appropriations bill & SAVE America act.

End TSA, cut government, not fund it.

They will be blamed in the media and court of public opinion for the long lines and the impoverished tsa workers. Count on it.

I’ve never liked Chip Ray more.
Mike Lee was leading the standing filibuster and leadership threw the standing filibuster under the bus so they could go on vacation. The House has said all along that the Senate is sabotaging the SAVE America act and that the house will not pass any legislation from the Senate until the SA act is passed. If you give into blackmail the blackmil never stops. The left & the corrupt Republican club will not get cover this time. POTUS Trump and a handful of patriots are calling them out.

I think Trump can call them back.

“the President can call the Senate (or both houses) into a special session on “extraordinary occasions” under Article II, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution. This authority allows the President to force lawmakers back to Washington D.C. to address urgent, specific matters like economic crises or nominations.”

Very well stated.

I suggest the GOP Senators immediately rescind the Easter Vacation and call out the US Marshalls to immediately bring all Senators back to the Senate Chamber.

EO: Every TSA agent is eligible for a $10,000 interest free loan not due for 3 years and the repayment period is 5 years.

"The Republicans are the MAJORITY PARTY in the Senate."

Yes they are, but they act like they are the MINORITY every time they have the MAJORITY. I gave up having any faith in Repukes in Congress a long time ago. They are nothing but a bunch of feckless fools who care only for themselves. The only time they want to know you is when they want your money for their campaigns, and your vote on Election Day. The rest of the time they ignore you, and stab you in the back until the next election cycle rolls around. Then they come sniffing around you again like a dog in heat.

Interpretation: Article II, Section 3 | Constitution Center

Article II, Section 3 grants and constrains presidential power. This Section invests the President with the discretion to convene Congress on “extraordinary occasions,” a power that has been used to summon the chambers to consider nominations, war declarations, and emergency legislation.

“ If the House won’t pass it, the public blame will shift from Schumer back to the GOP.”
***********************************

Trump just signed the executive order to pay the affected federal employees. I DARE THE DEMOCRATS to sue Trump to stop those payments.

President Trump is probably saying “PLEASE DON’T THROW ME INTO THAT BRIAR PATCH” and hoping the ‘RATS do sue him.
