House GOP poised to reject Senate-passed DHS funding bill — leaving no end in sight for airport chaos

WASHINGTON — House Republicans are preparing to reject a Senate-passed funding bill to reopen most of the Department of Homeland Security, prolonging a more than 40-day shutdown.

The impasse could mean more pain for hundreds of thousands of federal workers who are missing paychecks, and no permanent solution for long lines at airport security checkpoints.

“It’s not going to pass as it is,” Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) told The Post less than an hour after former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows posted on X that the DHS bill was “dead in the House.”

The staff for ICE and CBP… the paper processors and the office staff…still don’t get paid in this bill.

"The bill will give the Rats what they want and the Pubs are apparently going along with them."

What else is new? Rinse and repeat over and over.

From Politico-—

“”””It’s also highly unlikely this gambit would pass in the Senate, which has already left town for a two-week recess. Republicans would need to rely on the other chamber approving the measure through a unanimous consent agreement — and Senate Democrats are warning they’ll reject it.””””

Yup. The most important job for the US Senate is to leave DC for their Easter Vacation.

And these Senate Doofus wonder why the public has such a low opinion of them.

>If the House won’t pass it, the public blame will shift from Schumer back to the GOP.

That’s the Dem and RINO plan, but it’s BS and it won’t. (unless of course ‘our’ people accept the gaslighting through defeatism...)

It's amazing how Republicans never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity and ultimately screw things up.

You sure about that ? ICE has $75 billion in discretionary funding from the “BBB” to use until the House does a “permanent” funding bill (they want 10 years...but probably won’t get that long) via reconciliation.

"It gives them nothing. They got none of the reforms of ice they wanted."

This was a funding Bill for TSA. ICE is already funded through 2029. I don't believe there were any reforms pushed for ICE in this Bill. Separate issue. Should be in separate Bill, not a funding Bill.

Yup, and the next Democrat president will enact a mass amnesty giving tens of millions of illegals citizenship Plus, if one thinks the Democrats will then enforce border security think again. They will keep the southern border open forever.

EO dissolving TSA and replacing them with ICE.

Then enjoy the meltdown.

The Senate Republicans bent over to take it in the unowhere. Mike Johnson is pissed, you can see and hear it in his news conference, he’s not going to play Schumer’s game. Let’s see how the House votes for a clean funding bill.

Schumer will be busted for what he showed. The House leadership representing more areas will explain Schumer’s anti-defensive tactics.

Well, heck. If we’re just going to give the Democrats everything they want anyway let’s just repeal the INA...and the Constitution. Let’s just get it all done and hand them the anarchy that they so deeply desire.

Brilliant move by senate gop. Give the dems a “win” in the senate by capitulating then paint the House gop into a political corner

Chuck Schumer is a traitor who directly favors illegal aliens over the needs of Americans. How is this allowed to continue???
