I am sure that a lot of the decline was due to Humblegunner who insulted and chased away every new poster on the site.

Some of those he chased away were people grifting off of the Robinsons’ generosity, by blog-pimping their own websites where they got paid for the clicks and eyeballs sent their way. Many of those people never contributed to FR in any meaningful way, either monetarily with donations, or with discussion. Hit and run posters if you will.
We still have several of them here. If you post a vanity (which is what blog pimpers do, at a minimum), you should donate, ESPECIALLY if you make money off of your linked material.

Humblegunner? He mostly went after blog pimps and total kooks who were rude to boot, and was otherwise funny if you glommed onto his humor.
I’ve been saddened to see so many longtime high quality members run off FR by the usual vicious self-appointed hall monitors and the Q Brigade.
It's a combination of factors. The old beat down cliques who enjoy banning anyone who disagrees with them, like the viking bitties. Big fun huh? Like those who post their family recipes on big new stories, the evangullible cliques, and putting biased moderators in charge who have zero business being in that role. And a lot of the party hacks who supported open border globalist like Bush are still here. Not to mention the site was never updated and is stuck in the late 90s. And I suspect one site function was disable intentionally. It's a multitude of issues.
I lurked FR for a good twenty years before I created an account, and I kept coming back specifically to see what HG and Laz were posting, haha.
