OZARK, Ala. (WPEC) — An Alabama police officer discovered a Florida man hauling 81 gallons of moonshine during a routine traffic stop, an amount authorities say far exceeds what can legally be transported without a license.
The Ozark Police Department said Officer Dylan Griffin with the Crime Suppression Unit pulled over 61-year-old Learndis Hamilton on January 9 for a traffic violation. Containers of clear liquid were reportedly visible inside the vehicle, prompting further investigation.
Tests confirmed the liquid was illegally distilled moonshine, police said. Hamilton, who was traveling from Florida to an unknown destination, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was arrested at the scene.

Fair enough. I guess they can claim their hooch is Everclear that they have, for no particular reason, moved into unlabeled jugs.
Two hillbillies walk into a restaurant...
While having a bite to eat, they talk about their moonshine operation.
Suddenly, a man at a nearby table, who is eating a sandwich, begins to cough. After a minute or so, it becomes apparent that he is in real distress. One of the hillbillies looks at him and says, ‘Kin ya swallar?’
The man shakes his head no. Then he asks, ‘Kin ya breathe?’
The man begins to turn blue, and shakes his head no.
The hillbilly walks over to the man, and quickly gives his right butt cheek a lick.
The man is so shocked that he has a violent spasm, and the obstruction flies out of his mouth. As he begins to breathe again, the Hillbilly walks slowly back to his table. His partner says, ‘Ya know, I’d heerd of that there ‘Hind Lick Maneuver’ but I never seed nobody do it.’
Just call it Ethanol for the vehicle.
Just a good ole boy

If one of those bottles of beer should fall,
80 bottles of beer on the wall.
What is the test for illegal distillation?
My exact thought!
Learndis should have explained that it was rubbing alcohol, cleaning fluid, or V-2 rocket fuel!

What is the test for illegal distillation?
The test for illegal distillation is primarily based on the presence of a still and the intent to produce distilled spirits for human consumption. The federal law, under Section 5601 (a) (7), makes it a felony to distill or ferment any material for the purpose of producing distilled spirits without a federal Distilled Spirits Plant (DSP) permit. This applies regardless of state law, as federal law preempts state statutes when they conflict. The absence of a DSP permit renders the act unlawful from the moment the still is assembled with intent to produce ethanol for human consumption. Intent is inferred from equipment configuration, ingredients, and operational context, not from a disclaimer written on a sticky note.

I am a proud descendant of Minnesota bootleggers. My grandfather needed extra cash during prohibition, farming just wasn’t making enough with 4 kids. Canada was only an hour away and they had plenty of booze. So he and his brother would take the farm truck and drive into Canada and load up with “bonded” whiskey. They would take fire roads on the way back to avoid the cops, but one time the back roads through the woods were flooded, so they had to take the “Highway” which was only north and south bound roads. They got stopped and the two cops demanded a case of booze each. My stubborn German grandfather thought that was way too much and was only willing to part with a couple bottles. So they arrested him and his brother and they spent 6 months in the pokey. Meanwhile they also had a still on the farm which my dad had to tend to when he was about 14. He ended up working for a blacksmith who in addition to making farm implements, made stills for bootleggars.
