While stationed in the Sinai I went on a tour of St Kathrine’s monastery and climbed Mount Sinai. We got lucky there was a monk that had just arrived from the US who provided us a tour. I have pics of graffiti left by Roman soldiers who guarded the monastery. Artwork, really, carved into the stone walls. Link to One Drive, ignore the chalk marks, look at the stone.
