I am on Ozempic, (diabetes and heart condition, also long term very high blood pressure, cholesterol (both genetic) weight issues (my fault) etc).

Side effects are a real problem, I have to monitor my digestion carefully:

1. Constipation is a big issue, I have worked out (no pun) where I take some Metamucil every night. If I don’t have a movement for a few days, I’ll take laxatives. “Overflow diarrhea” is a miserable side effect.

2. Stomach paralyses is indicated by “sulfur burps” where the food is digesting in the stomach if it doesn’t leave for 12-24 hours. Stop eating until it empties. Sometimes I’ll skip the next dose for a day or two to let my system catch up.

On the plus side, I’ve lost 30 pounds, (still a little overweight) my A1C had gone from 10 plus to 6.1, and all my other numbers are exactly where they should be.

But you need to be aware of the side effects and look out for them and deal with them. A couple of times I thought I would give it up because of the side effects, but I’ve figured out how to manage them, and the overall result has been very good. I honestly don’t thing the doctors really understand those, I had to figure it out myself. And getting the diabetes under control has been worth it.

It’s not all dancing with roses.

Congrats on losing the 30 pounds and getting A1C from 10 plus to 6.1! Good job!

I’ve lost 34 pounds since July 25. I did it with lifestyle and diet changes. I learned a huge amount from excellent doctors making content for YouTube on diet, metabolic health, glucose, diabetes, cardiac health, nutrition and lots more. The wealth of information available now is truly astonishing. Decades ago, you’d meet with your doc once a year for 30 minutes and he would say “lose weight, cut back on drinking, exercise more and take these meds.” That was it. It was hard to take control of your health with only that input.

Geez, best wishes for continued if even slight improvements! I have an autoimmune condition but except for occasional flareups it’s under control and not a daily battle, mainly just unusual levels of fatigue by evening most days.

Long term diabetics are prone to gastroparesis without Ozempic. Could have been caused by both situations.

Hi Fido - I took my first 2.5 tirzepitide shot Tuesday.
Interesting week followed.

My endocrine system and metabolism were broken by a pituitary tumor 30 years ago and I’ve been fighting fat since.

I’ve done Keto, Atkins, low carb- they all work a bit but are hard to stick to.

18 months ago I had 3 different emergency surgeries - none related to weight or health, or each other - and basically ate broth and scrambled eggs for 4 months.

I lost around 25 pounds, a lot of it muscle. But was finally convinced that managed Anorexia was the only way to lose serious weight.

Since then I’ve put 10 of it back on and am tired of fighting and trying with no success. I have my grandma’s body. Shory, chubby, Italian lady.

My a1c has been 6.1 for years which is not diabetes but my endo keeps harping it’s pre-diabetes which is not diabetes.

Anyway, my sister- who doesn’t have any of my endocrine problems- has lost 40 pounds and talked me into thinking about it which I’ve done for the last month.

And I waited to ask my endo if Terzeptide would be safe and she rushed to get a sample pack.

So 24 hours after I took it, my stomach got very sour and I didn’t want to eat anything. The sour lasted another 24 hours and then I just didn’t want to eat anything much.

That lasted until just a few hours ago whem some appetite came back.

Debating about finishing the trial pack, I have 3 more 2.5 mg pens. 40 pounds less would sure be nice. If I can do it on a low dose that would be great.

I think Hollywood has shown enough examples of how NOT to use these drugs.

Luck and smaller pants to us both :)
