Congrats on losing the 30 pounds and getting A1C from 10 plus to 6.1! Good job!
I’ve lost 34 pounds since July 25. I did it with lifestyle and diet changes. I learned a huge amount from excellent doctors making content for YouTube on diet, metabolic health, glucose, diabetes, cardiac health, nutrition and lots more. The wealth of information available now is truly astonishing. Decades ago, you’d meet with your doc once a year for 30 minutes and he would say “lose weight, cut back on drinking, exercise more and take these meds.” That was it. It was hard to take control of your health with only that input.
I was able to do well with just diet changes at first, but I just couldn’t do it forever. The only way I could get my blood sugar down was NO carbs. I couldn’t do ANY cheat days. Any carbs at all would break the cycle and my blood sugar would increase.
Then one day I looked at the next rice cake and said “I can’t do this any more”.
Diets are very hard to do forever.
So, with Metformin and Jardiance and eating carefully (no bread, very limited other carbs, the occasional potato) I was able to get it down quite a bit, but then Ozempic brought it down the where it should be, and I can have things like bread a couple of times a week, and some treats - it feels like a “normal” diet.
Of course, now I am probably hooked for life.
