President Trump’s unconstitutional and unjust war against Iran is setting back his “affordability” agenda. The war has caused a big rise in gasoline prices. Among the related concerns is the hindering of the movement of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, the only available passage for ships to transport oil from the Persian Gulf
The increased costs will do more than raise prices at the pump. An increase in gas prices brings increased transportation costs that will be passed along to consumers. Prices of a variety of goods, including food, will increase.
No wonder Energy Secretary Chris Wright, White House Chief of Staff Susan Wiles, and other Trump administration officials are frantically working to develop policies to lower gas prices. One possibility under consideration is deploying US troops to try to ensure ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz. This could turn into a permanent deployment of US troops.
According to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the US government is spending about 891.4 million dollars a day on the Iran War. These costs are likely to increase as the war drags on and the US increases its military presence, possibly even putting boots on the ground in Iran.
According to numerous media reports, the Trump administration is preparing a 50 billion dollars “supplemental” funding request for the Iran War. This request will soon be sent to Congress. This funding would be added on top of the defense budget.
The supplemental bill is likely to pass with overwhelming bipartisan support. The Trump administration’s 50 billion dollars price tag is a floor, not a ceiling. Senators and Representatives will seek to add their spending priorities to this “must pass” legislation, while corporate lobbyists are no doubt already preparing “wish lists” to present to lawmakers.
The costs of the Iran War will further increase the already over 38 trillion dollars and rising national debt. The rate of increases will be greater as long as the government is spending almost a billion dollars a day, or more, on a regime change war in Iran.
The costs of this war will put added pressure on the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates low and increase its purchase of Treasury bonds in order to monetize the federal debt. The pressure on the Fed will also increase as other countries reduce their purchase of US debt. These reductions will be motivated by concerns over the economic instability caused by the US government’s out of control spending and by resentment over the US government’s hyperinterventionist foreign policy. These factors could also accelerate the increasing rejection of the dollar’s world reserve currency status. A loss of the reserve currency status will cause a dollar crisis, leading to an economic crash worse than the Great Depression.
This crash will likely result in the end of the welfare-warfare-fiat money system. Whether this system is replaced by an even more authoritarian one or by a system of limited government and much more freedom depends on whether those of us who know the truth do our best to spread the message that the key to peace and prosperity is a system of free markets, limited government, individual liberty, and peaceful relations and free trade with all nations.

To the tune of $38 trillion of U.S. debt?? LOL.
Lets see. Multiple wars, from them spreading terrorism, spanning decades. Multiple military projects, for those wars and terrorism. Multiple embassy upgrades. Multiple ‘insurance costs’. The entire DHS. Every time anyone travels. All 38 Trillion, No. Half, perhaps. Even at half that’s big money.
We’re kicking ass... why would it?
If I remember correctly the rats were begging for the vote so they could be on board because the voting public of both sides was in support of the war after the 9/11 attacks.
So Pete are you going to post 50 times a day and say the same thing over and over?
> So why did W. Ask Congress for authorization not once but twice for Afghanistan and Iraq? <
Those authorizations were crap, the coward’s way out. Congress wanted to cover itself. Take credit if all went well. But blame the president otherwise.
The Constitution is clear. War requires a formal declaration from Congress.
Ah, but recent presidents have found a way around that. Just don’t call it a war. Call it a “kinetic action”, or some such thing.
But isn’t it strange and ironic that the Bush admin for all its faults and neocons felt it had to go to Congress for authorization and make a case for Iraq war.
Yet Trump doesn’t.
This is a relatively new development and extension of the presidential powers and many of you don’t seem to care.
Bush didn’t go because he had to ... he went because the rats were begging him ... go back and read my post again ...
I agree with yyou on that but at least there was an authorization for the War on terror (response to 9/11) AND Iraq
There was a process and a vote and while not a declaration of war as many people might have preferred there was some buy-in from the Reps and senators and that is very close to a declaration of war probably the closet we’ve seen for a long time?
Ron Paul has devolved into an opportunistic ankle-biter.
The Dollar has risen considerably since the start of this operation in Iran.

Sounds like Rand’s dad Ron is also a diva. Do they just criticize other’s actions but don’t offer alternatives. What is their plan to dissuade Iran from developing nukes and missiles to deliver them? Up until Trump all previous Presidents could offer is $1.5 billion to cease wanting to destroy America or just say “DON’T”
For the sake of argument:
Bush II knew the Afghan and Iraqi wars would be relatively long ones. So he asked for those congressional authorizations.
Trump probably sees this current Iran conflict as being short and to the point. So he didn’t consider asking for any authorizations.
And to complicate the matters even further, Bush II was an idiot, and probably someone’s puppet (I’m not sure who’s, but I have my ideas).
Trump is neither an idiot nor someone’s puppet.

Ron Paul has predicted 14 of the last 2 recessions. If its gloom and doom you want, Paul is your man.
“So Pete are you going to post 50 times a day and say the same thing over and over?”
When it comes to getting rid of Iran threat, it’s the least I can do. 47 years of this is enough.
The way I look at it, They shot at our guy’s head. If this doesn’t get fixed, you WILL be living in an imperial presidency - for as little as you get to live.
I also believe that the Founders would take one look at the Amendments that we have added to their Constitution and wash their hands of all responsibility.
Post away, redundancy is your speciality. You are not alone.
” People should be able to see who their Congress people actually support.”
Bravo in your statement. But that has already been established. Iran has threatened the American people with ballistic missile launches and we’ve stopped them. They have threatened and attacked their neighbors especially Israel our main ally in the region, and they have falsely tried to cover their violent acts against people by claiming their innocent civilians are being attacked. And congress has, in both houses, been critical in stopping it. I don’t think we will learn anything more about their failures. They’ve already displayed them for the world to see. And they don’t care either that they’ve done it or been uncovered with their intent. Good thought, though.

Where is money well spent?
HHS spends 2.6 Trillion per year.
Dept of War 0.9 Trillion per year... per Google/Gemini.
We should be concerned about the best use of Dept of War money.
But we should be even more concerned about the FRAUD in HHS.
Deloitte IES is a big fraud. Integrated Eligibility System enrolls people in Medicaid, CHPS, SNAP/EBT, WIC, TANF, Sec8, etc in 25 states MA NY PA OH IL CO MO TN GA FL TX CA ETC.
IES enrolls the dead. IES enrolls DUPs. It has other frauds.
Anyone concerned about War spending should also be concerned about HHS spending.
In addition to have sold out to Maduro it is now obvious that RPaul is owned by terrorists orgs in the MEast. Not condemning hamas and their supporters and objecting to getting rid of Carter’s batch of Iranian arseholes = supporting terrorists. Iran is the source of ALL terrorists acts across the world in last 47 years. Time to clean up.
there’s no fool like an old fool ...
