In PBS's "The American Experience," a documentary falsely claimed Black soldiers liberated Buchenwald and Dachau.
After conducting "an intensive examination of Army records Chris Ruddy authoritatively documented that the Black soldiers of the 761st Tank and 183rd Combat Engineers battalions did not free either Buchenwald or Dachau.
Jesse Jackson, the unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988, was a leading campaigner for the infamous film.

Doris “Doris” Miller , was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions at Pearl Harbor .
Looks like the Navy is going to name an aircraft carrier , CVN-81 , after him ?
I wish the Navy hadn’t gone down the naming carriers after people rabbit hole. Nimitz and Eisenhower I can see, sort of, but not Ford, Bush or Miller .
I do like classic names, Enterprise, Constellation, America . Battles such as Midway , Coral Sea or Bunker Hill are ok. Hornet or Wasp ? Honey Badger !
Doris “Doris” Miller , was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions at Pearl Harbor .
Played by Cuba Gooding Jr. in the movie “Pearl Harbor”. (He’s way better than Ben Affleck!)
D’uh with the double Doris, should have been “Dorie” instead , auto correct did not like Dorie .
Doris ? A boy named Sue comes to mind, but Miller was an able boxer , being the heavyweight champ of the USS West Virginia BB-48 boxing team.
We should always have a USS Lexington.
I agree re Lexington .
Thr Navy’s LHA/LHD ships have some of the names mentioned earlier, America , Wasp , see the Essex too .
They are also naming these same class ships after battles , Bataan, Iwo Jima , Fallujah.
Good. Naming ships after politicians and bureaucrats is an outrage.
