Criticism of a veterans actions after service is not the same as criticizing his service

McCain used his “veteran” title as a shield and deserved criticism for his actions after his military service was over, Crenshaw is no different

Agreed on the first paragraph. And have never posted otherwise.

For the second, can you provide some examples where Dan Crenshaw used his veteran title as a ”shield”? I’m not talking about his Member Bio, as almost all M.C. list their military service.

How did he get that eyepatch?

He got that eyepatch when he was wounded in combat. That eyepatch is a permanent sign of him defending the US.

People belittle that reminder of sacrifice he made in serving when they call him “eyepatch”.

And as said before, there’s no one on this site who would ever have the guts to call him that directly to his face. Not one. So there’s an issue of cowardice.

I do know.

I guess posters use that term “eyepatch” and are so ignorant they don’t know why.

But some posters do know.

McCain had some permanent injuries from military service. That does not make him immune from POLITICAL criticisms from others. Ditto with the defeated congressman from Texas.

Agreed 100%. And I have NEVER posted otherwise. If I have, post it.

But that criticism does not mean posters get a free ride denigrating his military service and sacrifice.

Being a veteran does not provide absolution from the sin of being a bag of shit

I served with many that I wouldn’t cross the street to piss on if they were on fire

Veteran status is not a free pass

Not so much a criticism of Crenshaw but of posters here who bring up “he is a veteran” as if that shields him from criticism of his actions after service and as a politician
Like McCain, Crenshaw went full rino, IMO

Agree, and posters who do that should be excoriated.

Thankfully, I’ve never done that. Crenshaw’s time in Congress and his political views are fair game.

Posters mocking his military service and war injuries based on his political views are a sign of an increase in anti-veteran posters whose support for veterans is transactional - that support is given only if the veterans political views are “correct”.
