I can’t stand her whole manner of speaking. Sounds like a 13-year-old instead of an educated woman. She has a foul mouth, too.
I had no idea what any of you were talking about while you were describing how irritating the manner of speaking with a vocal fry was. I even thought the word ‘fry’ must be a typo. My curiosity overcame me after the 4th post and I went to youtube to see examples of what it was. I’m horrified!
I’ve had what I now think is a vocal fry for decades after I screamed outside during a very cold day when I was about 14. I felt something ‘snap’ in my throat that day and my voice has been rather low in pitch since then and my vocal chords vibrate near the end of my sentences as I run out of my words. I’ve also discovered that the “cure” is to adopt a more breathy approach to speaking and to artificially raise my pitch. That’s gonna take a lot of conscious effort.
I’m embarrassed that I’ve probably been annoying everyone who’s ever had to listen to me, and there have been tens of thousands of people because I used to teach the Rules of Golf to large audiences and spoke to large business gatherings doing the various jobs I’ve had. Being a small business owner was probably the LEAST amount of speaking I’ve ever done, likely to the relief of everyone.
Lordy, Lordy, of all of the things I’ve learned on these threads, this one’s got to be at the very top and I sure wish it weren’t. I can’t believe how this strange little slide turned into a life-altering moment for me. 😭😭
