My employer was a big DoD contractor. They were pressured by DoD to push employees to get the COVID shot. The word from HR was: get the shot, get an medical exemption from your doctor or plan to leave the company. That directive arrived around November 1. November 11th was the final day for open enrollment for healthcare plans. I wrote a detailed letter to my doctor explaining exactly why the COVID shot would be a health disaster for me. He concurred and wrote an exemption letter. It was sent to HR. If they accepted the exemption, I would sign up for the healthcare coverage and stay on the payroll. If not, I would initiate retirement immediately. They accepted the exemption. It was a simple choice because I worked remotely and never set foot on company premises after September 2017.
