I’ve flipped a couple of houses. Lived in the squalor while remodeling dilapidated houses.
I could picture doing it on a grand scale in that country on the cheap. They’d just have to work hard, something communism doesn’t require. Put the whole country to work manually. We’d just have to supply the cheap hand tools and gloves. Pay them cheap and they’ll be too tired to be angry. Once the place is ‘gutted’ we can restore the great architectural heritage. Gay(tasteful) contractors would supervise it best. A few outdoor amphitheaters where loud latin music can be played with our modern sound systems. It would be awesome.

Screw the “modern cars”. The classic cars on Cuba streets might be a dream for Mecum five years from now. There must be a lot of experts there with the skills to maintain them.
Bring the cars here. Hot August Nights would be fantastic. Send them old Ford Fiestas and Rangers-sound familiar? Keep them locked into American autos and keep out the other countries by executive order. Little money involved for the trades so it can be spent on construction materials.
I’d even give them free gas from the SPR. It’s strategic isn’t it?

Definitely. We watch Mecum a lot, and see what people are paying for them. I know nothing about the mechanics of cars, but most of the pre-’80s on the block are works of art. I want a ‘61 Impala convertible.
Is it a sign of communism that we have mostly boring cars that all look alike, and only come in three or four colors? (I’m going with “communism”; it’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 😊)
