Australia's Destanee Aiava has announced her retirement from tennis at the age of 25 and claims she is turning her back on the game's "racist, misogynistic, homophobic and hostile" culture.
Aiava, who has Samoan heritage, will walk away from a sport she has likened to a "toxic boyfriend" at the end of the current season.
She announced her impending exit in an expletive-laden Instagram post in which she revealed she had been targeted by social media trolls.

There sure is in tennis. Please read my post #31 below. Be aware that the USTA has an agenda of helping black players through the ranks, starting with local young players being assisted financially. Including free coaching, free travel and help with endorsements and scholarship endorsements. If they make the pros, then to justify their early favoritism, they cheat on rankings. Coco Gauff is a prime example, but there are more, just not as well known.
Women tennis players get the same prize money as men despite only having to play 3 sets max. Perhaps women should demand that they play 5 sets as well...just to be fair and not misogynistic.

I have to support same pay. Lodging, dining, plane fare, coaching, taxes, physiotherapy, are all the same, for men or women. these players have to provide the same for their team. . These players are in various world locations up to two weeks. If a player living in an another part of the world is playing as an example in Australia, they have to arrive at least a week earlier to adjust for time change. costs of playing are exorbitant.

Her highest world ranking was 147th. I’m guessing that if she had the talent to complete with the game’s best and make a decent living, she’d be singing a different tune.
Would it be insensitive to suggest that if she lost some mass, she might be a bit more nimble on the court? It’s simple physics, but that’s probably on the list of what’s racist these days.
