I find it odd that in the 53 years since Apollo 17 man has only traveled 0.1% of the distance to the Moon. Add to that that no rover missions to the moon have occurred. We have not tried to study the lunar craters. caves. poles etc. We have not drilled into the moon and tried to bring back samples. We have not set up a satellite array so we can explore the far side of the moon as well. All of these would be far cheaper than exploring Mars.

We can also talk about the fact that virtually every photo from NASA is enhanced in someway. I understand why they do this, but this is not a true representation of what the objects really look like. This would be like doing a CT scan of your heart and then turning that into a color image.

It takes >90% of the energy required to reach the moon, to reach that 0.1% point. Once the moon was reached to score points in the competition with the USSR there has been no compelling reason to justify the expense of another visit. Not until a permanent colonization plan is justified would people return.

The evidence is plain enough that the Apollo missions were real. And the arguments of the "faked landings" crowd has been systematically bad and tortured. It's time to give that conspiracy theory a rest.

Look at history. Columbus supposedly discovered North America in 1492. It’s not that unusual.

I will say that my own impression of the “space program” was that it was a civilian cover for post-WWII ICBM research, at least initially. No one needs a Saturn V to do anything but go to the moon.

Are you even dimly aware W Bush had approved a program to return to the moon?

This would be like doing a CT scan of your heart and then turning that into a color image.

Colorization can be used to visualize a lot of important information about the heart's functioning and health:

How appropriate for Valentine's Day!

...man has only traveled 0.1% of the distance to the Moon...

Man has traveled only 250 miles since the Apollo landings? I drove from Atlanta to Yellowstone and back to the tune of 3,000 miles.

Add to that that no rover missions to the moon have occurred.

Your ignorance of lunar rover missions is not evidence that they haven't occurred, it's only evidence of your ignorance.

Several robotic rovers have successfully landed on the Moon, starting with the Soviet Union's Lunokhod 1 in 1970. Other notable robotic rovers include China's Yutu (2013) and Yutu-2 (2019), which became the first to operate on the far side of the Moon. The U.S. has also sent rovers, including the MAPP rover in 2025.

These robots have been used to analyze soil, take panoramic images, and map the lunar surface, often targeting the south pole for resources.
