Not having a degree in differential religion I had to look up 'koan-like'.
Which is Short instructive text in some Buddhist practices; cryptic, concise, thought-provoking
Why would the author use such and obscure reference?
Just trying to appear learned? Show her superiority to the audience?
Who knows? I’m not sure the quote is even a good example of a koan.
