Nancy Guthrie Case New Note Demands 1 Bitcoin to Rat Out Suspect
tmz ^ | 02 11 2026 | Staff

There's a new note in the Nancy Guthrie case, but this one doesn't seem to be from the kidnapper ... instead, it's from someone offering to give up information on the kidnapper.

TMZ received the note just before 5 AM PT, and the sender claims they've tried unsuccessfully to reach Savannah Guthrie's brother, Camron, and her sister, Annie, by email and text. The note goes on, "If they want the name of the individual involved then I want 1 Bitcoin to the following wallet. Time is more than relevant."

There is a legitimate bitcoin address in the note ... and it is a different address from the one in the original ransom note, received by TMZ and 2 Tucson TV news stations.

We have forwarded this note to the FBI.

Last night the evening programs on FNC were wall-to-wall Nancy Guthrie coverage. All excited about the person being detained which seems to be a false alarm.

Pookie's cartoons today has an interesting message from Nancy Guthrie from 2020 about how she is hoping all of the Trump Family will go to jail.

Because this total scammer’s deal would be to receive the bitcoin first (thus no real info needed), figuring they wouldn’t expose their ability to track it all for so little.

Why hasn’t Savannah Guthrie upped that reward to $500,00 ?

There are “companies (I say that very loosely)” called “mixers.”

You send a bitcoin to them and they cut it up into a thousand pieces. Those pieces are sent to unique addresses. Those addresses are then cut up again and sent to another hundred addresses.

Finally, those addresses will send the “parts” to a few new addresss. Obviously, the “mixer” takes a cut at each step.

In the end, the original sender will end up with 90% of their original amount, but it would be difficult to track the origin.

Now, in most countries, exchanges are controlled and tax reporting takes place. The IRS has gotten really good at this. Bitcoin coming in without a “source” is income. “Sending” a bitcoin to an address other than yours is a taxable event (counted as a sale.). The tax ramifications of this are significant in the US and other civilized countries.

And the transactions are recorded forever on the blockchain. This makes auditing pretty easy.

So, the long and short of it is that it’s not easy to move this stuff and end up with “cash.” It is also all happening out in the open in a ledger that is visible to everyone and cannot be changed.

Bitcoin carries some “Hollywood” baggage where it just seems easy to suggest that using it avoids all control. That is simply not true.

(I was audited by the IRS for bitcoin transactions back in the 2016-2017 time frame. The process took almost three years. At the start of the process, they were like the keystone cops; I was teaching the team more than the IRS had taught them. But the end of the process, they were VERY sharp. Everything ended well…but they were looking at every transaction with a microscope. They are far from the inept group I was dealing with in 2019.)

Maybe, the person knows who it is BUT they are afraid of the harm that might come to them IF they drop a dime on them.

IF it is someone involved in the cartels or crazy criminal they are probably afraid of this person. For good reason.

People that are crazy enough to kidnap an old lady for ransom probably will not give a second thought of killing this person too.

The police chief is arrogant with little man syndrome?

DM website’s latest headline makes that case.

Pretty soon EVERYONE is gonna email TMZ and demand bitcoin that is where this is headed. Its the brother in law OK, he hired his two former band mate buddies to do this in order to get a big payday but it backfired

They keep chasing all these rabbits. There was no kidnapping for ransom. It was most likely a murder abduction so the victim would never be found and a few months later the will would get read and the inheritance distributed.

Nancy Guthrie, dated Aug. 27, 2020.

"I am so looking forward to seeing the Trump Family in jail."

Presumably that means all of them, including Barron.

A FReeper who goes by pookie18 posts cartoons every day Monday to Friday. The latest batch has the heading Today's Toons 2/11/26. There is a link to The Right Reasons.

The third item in today's batch has Nancy Guthrie's name in the upper left-hand corner with date of Aug. 27, 2020, with the message "I am so looking forward to seeing the Trump Family in jail."

That can hardly be anyone other than Savannah Guthrie's mother. It's hard to imagine that someone would go to the trouble of posing as her and putting up a fake message.

"My guess: After listening to the retired FBI guys last night on the news and other people with knowledge of Bitcoin evidently money put into a Bitcoin ‘Wallet’ can be immediately transferred out electronically, parsed/spread out to other accounts, even many making it difficult to discover to even impossible and even then once transferred to other accounts those accounts can be immediately transferred to other accounts and so on..."

You can 'poison pill' a Bitcoin transfer. Colonial Pipeline did it with the help of Mandiant (now owned by Google) and the Feds.

That was 5 years ago. Setting a Bitcoin trap is light-years improved now.

It's more than plausible, it's based Occam. "You two morons scoop her up, and I will handle the demand."

The Alphabets left his residence about an hour ago with (literally) a shopping bag full of items and took the mail (a lot) with gloves on.
