Forget about the halftime show. The author of this piece would do well to get over this stupid idea that “America” should be defined by a form of vicarious entertainment where tens of millions of people spend four hours watching a series of TV advertisements punctuated by 12-15 minutes of football.
That’s exactly what it is. Years ago I quit watching and found much better things to do with my time, especially on precious weekends.
And those 12-15 minutes of football turn into, on average, 11 minutes during the entire game where the ball is in play. Even though my son-in-law is a football coach I think it is the most tedious spectator sport out there.
