An Olive Garden cook has died after he dunked his own head into a searing hot deep fryer — as his co-workers frantically tried to thwart his gruesome suicide, authorities said.
The employee, who hasn’t been identified, stripped his clothes off and thrust his face into the fryer at the chain’s restaurant in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, last Friday afternoon, the Smoking Gun reported.
“A male victim went head first into the fryers,” dispatchers could be heard saying in grim 911 audio.
“I don’t have a lot of details, lot of people screaming, some kind of a burn victim,” another operator could be heard saying.
The cook was rushed a nearby hospital to be treated for his severe burns, but he later died from his injuries, authorities said.

I wonder about the person who gave him the match.. if someone should]wed up at my door asking for match I wouldn’t give it to them, may want to start fire too close to my house, let alone harm themself.

Yeah, that would call for an unavoidable prescription. It's a very common ailment, particularly in people who have Irish genes.

I wonder if the guy was Asian. A while back, there was a guy, Korean I think, working at a steel plant who just up and jumped in the crucible.
Maybe he was confused about hot oil hair treatment for split ends?
I’m traumatized just from reading about it, I can’t imagine what it would be like to be there.
I can normally joke about anything but this exceeds my limit. It’s gruesome and tragic on every level. This person must have had some exceptionally fierce demons.
You're not alone ... In an odd way, it's sort of comforting or refreshing to realize that some things are just too dark for me to joke about.

I never heard that about the genes. I'll still take my handsome looks, blue eyes and Tom Cruise smile, though. My wonderful late wife liked them a lot.
Not only that he was carrying an open bucket filled with gas. He’d just had a fight over a .22 rifle with a 59-year-old man and lost. (It failed to fire and the old guy got it away from him. They fought in the kitchen, and he ran away to the gas station nearby.) So, I’d imagine he didn’t look...normal. But all the characters involved were black which is an entirely different view on life.
