Chuck Negron, one of the co-founders of the rock band Three Dog Night, has died at the age of 83.

The singer died at his Studio City, Ca, home on Monday and he was surrounded by his family, his rep told Variety.

Negron had been battling heart failure in the months leading up to his death, and suffered with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease for around three decades.

I really enjoyed their music.

This is news to me: “Didn’t write [a single song] They were geniuses at taking obscure songs and arranging them into hits.”

Wow. Had no idea.

Many years of drug abuse and he still made it to 83 y/o. That is a real tribute to the strength of the human body.

I knew a fellow who had managed a punk club in NYC. In 1982, he was SURE that Deborah Harry's substance abuse would lead to an early death. He was completely wrong on that one.

I had asked him if all those punks bands actually believed their own stage persona (he worked with them when they were "up and coming"). He said "No . . . except for The Talking Heads,"

I saw TDN at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium in Ames, IA back around 1973. It was a very good, tight performance that pleasantly surprised a young and clueless me.

Loved them growing up. They had a fantastic backing band.

He was a regular customer to that house and was there the day before the crime took place. For what its worth.

Mama told him not to come.

Human body, or any animal body never ceases to amaze me on recuperative powers when treated with proper steps. I am living example. From bad health at age 56 now have no health issues at age 86. All achieved with change in diet and daily exercise of 10,000 steps walking.

I saw them a few times in their heyday. Once in Evansville Indiana some dumbass promoter booked Uriah Heap as the opening act for 3 Dog Night.

A colossal mistake. Uriah Heap got 4 standing ovations. During 3 Dogs set the fans kept yelling for Uriah Heap to come back. 3 Dog played maybe 3 songs before telling the audience off and left the stage.

I had and never have seen anything like that during my concert going years.

I have.... to a lesser extent than perhaps the concert you were at, I saw that happen when Stevie Ray Vaughan opened for Dire Straits. There was nothing wrong with Dire Straits.... it just took about 4 songs before folks started to settle down....

With all these rock stars of the 60s dying in their 80s, some people are probably puzzled by what invisible yet dominant 60s generation they belonged to.

My band plays “Never Been to Spain” every now and then.

Every time I hear the replay of the Lester Holt interview with Camilla about visiting the border with her replying, We'll "I've never been to Europe either" I think of that song.

Saw what’s left of the group about 10 years ago in concert. I remember one of the band members said during the concert “you won’t hear any politics during this concert”. We really appreciated that.
