The last time temperatures in Tampa, Florida, reached or dropped below 32°F was on January 13, 2011. During that event, temperatures dropped to 29°F, causing ice to form on the Veterans Expressway. While a significant cold blast occurred in January 2018, the most recent official 32-degree (or lower) reading for the city occurred in 2011. That was fifteen years ago.
I can confirm. I live in the area and the tic-tac-toe skywriting started up again on Dec 11 after stopping the day after Election Day 2024. Now it's a regular occurrence.
Weather service says 23 at Brooksville. There wont be much golf played there today..
19 with a windchill of 4 here.
One of the cats, a long hair, was out there rolling and diving into the snow.
The forecast lessened over yesterday, from 4-6”is now 2-4”
50 mph winds forecast were actually 20 mph.
When your body is conditioned to strenuous walks with dogs at 80 degree temps and 75 degree humidity you suddenly can’t get any oxygen out of the air with a wind chill factor of 35 or so and the high humidity. We’ve had some really chilly and windy days recently. I had to stop walking the dogs. They didn’t have a problem with the cold air, I did. Couldn’t catch my breath battling with them in the relative cold. These guys get 45 minute walks every day and weigh almost 200 pounds between the two of them. All muscle, no fat and they were dragging me, and whipping me around. The cold air really revved them up, so I quit taking them out until it warms up again. Maniac dogs in this crazy weather.
It’s -10° in the pocket I’m in, Tampa is still 42° warmer than we are, oh the horror! According to a couple weather apps it looks like it could be another two weeks to hit above the thaw point.
Launch components damage ?
It’s all relative to what your body is accustomed to. You would not be able to function the way I can at 90 degrees and 90% humidity because I’ve been doing it for years. Just as I cannot function in your extreme cold weather the way you can. It’s not a sign of weakness or being thin-skinned. It’s just the physics of the human body.
Yep. Same here. Same deep blue sky in the morning, then chemtrails nonstop that started out thin and spread outward, joining and turning the sky white
Also, we had a downpour last week when we had ‘poor’ air quality. Usually a rainfall will cleanse the air and we will go to ‘excellent’ air quality but it stayed ‘poor’.
We still have poor/fair air quality but there is no source of the pollution nor reason given - no factories running, no fire - nothing. It is just difficult to breathe and I have to stay indoors.
The snowbird Canadians will be out in their swimsuits at the beach today..
Oh crap. Now the temp outside is 29 degrees, down from 32. It’s going the wrong way. I’m going back to sleep.
LOL! I can relate. My dog has pulled me down an icy street more than once when he chases after a rabbit or sees another friendly dog being walked. I’ve learned to let go of the leash as I do not want broken bones after a slip & fall. I also walk in the snow as opposed to the icy spots on the hilly streets.
Too bad the cold won’t get rid of any liberals that migrate down there from the north
We are dangling just above freezing at the moment, with a freeze warning for tonight into Monday morning. Today will be a busy day, covering up the young avocado and citrus tree saplings in the yard, along with other tender tropical flora, all planted in recent months to replace everything lost in the 2024 storms.
Either way, Trump's fault.
But nothing crushing freedom and prosperity can't cure. { snicker }
It is 25 degrees this morning in Winter Haven. It is 23 degrees in some low areas in Polk County.
I have worked this event (volunteer) since the early 80's for a couple decades as it's pretty cool, everything to a few rainouts to freakin' blizzards. I moved down to the Ft. Pierce area in the 70's - I lasted three weeks! Small lizards jumping on my head, sweaty all the time, ugh.
22 degrees in Biloxi - last time we had temps like this were last January (2025), when it got down to 10 degrees...
But in the next few days, we’ll be back to highs in the 60s
Some places in Central and Northern Florida broke records set back in 1977. After a prediction of a mini Ice Age did not come true, the global warming alarmists used that extreme cold period as their baseline for predicting catastrophic global warming. They are so dishonest.
It’s 3 degrees here. Last time that happened was Tuesday.
We’re -7 windchill with 6” - 8” of snow but mid 20’s this afternoon and low 50’s on Tuesday and Wednesday with rain... go figure.
