All I remember is Samwise became the Governor of the Shire - you may remember that the book ended much different than the movies, where Saruman became a gangster and tried to enslave the Shire. Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin returned and were equal to the task of freeing the Hobbits and were honored as 'Fathers' of a renewed Hobbitown. They were elected as hero leaders and King Aragorn would sometimes travel there to recognize their special place in Middle Earth of the Fourth Age of 'Men'!
