The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has added additional child sex charges in the case against an illegal immigrant accused of murdering and sexually assaulting one of his youth soccer players.
According to court documents, 44-year-old Mario Edgardo Garcia-Aquino from El Salvador, who entered the United States illegally as a “gotaway,” was a youth soccer coach in the San Fernando Valley, including with the Hurricane Valley Boys Soccer Club. One of the frequent playfields was Whitsett Fields Park in North Hollywood, where he allegedly met 13-year-old Oscar “Omar” Hernandez. On March 28, 2025, Garcia-Aquino was accused of sexually assaulting and murdering Hernandez at his home in Lancaster. The 13-year-old had left his home in Sun Valley to meet the coach but never came back. His body was found dumped along a roadside in Ventura County, near Oxnard.

All but one Democrat in the US House of Representatives voted against an election integrity package on Wednesday that would expand federal requirements, such as proof of citizenship and voter ID, to prevent non-citizens from voting in federal elections. It will now move to the Senate for a vote.
The SAVE America Act, introduced by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), cleared the chamber by a vote of 218–213. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) was the lone Democrat to support it.
The SAVE America Act builds on the earlier Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, also led by Roy, which passed the House in April 2025 but was not taken up in the Senate. Under the updated legislation, states would be required to implement a new federal proof-of-citizenship mandate as part of the voter registration process for federal elections. In addition, the bill would require photo identification to vote in any federal election, establishing a nationwide standard for voter ID in those contests.

Records from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department now provide further details on how the illegal biolab in Reedley, California searched by local, state, and federal authorities in 2023 and a separate hazardous lab inside a Las Vegas garage raided in late January are both tied to a CCP-linked Chinese national currently awaiting trial for fraud, false statements, and the adulteration of medical devices.
Jia Bei Zhu was arrested in 2023 related to allegations he was running an illegal biological laboratory in Reedley, California. In late January of this year, the FBI and local police raided a similar biolab in Vegas, arresting the home’s property manager, Ori Solomon (also spelled Solomon). Police say the two labs are closely connected.
The “Declaration of Arrest Report” was obtained through a public records request by Just the News. Beyond providing further details on the connections between Zhu and Solomon and the biolabs in California and Nevada, the police report also suggested that there was an aborted “alternative” lab attempted in Vegas before it was moved to the Vegas garage.

Two people masked in keffiyehs disrupted a talk by Jewish journalist Haviv Rettig of The Times of Israel at Haverford College this week, prompting the school to ban the two non-students from campus.
In the video below, you can hear Rettig noting that they were calling for people’s deaths. He asks the crowd if that is protected speech.
Haverford College, a small, private institution in Philadelphia, “indefinitely” banned two individuals from its campus last week after one of them used a bullhorn to disrupt a Jewish journalist’s guest talk.
Neither was a student or employee of the college, Director of Campus Safety Jerry Fayette stated in a message to the campus Wednesday. He did not name the individuals.
“We have gathered sufficient evidence to identify both the individual who used a bullhorn and the audience member who initiated physical contact with them,” Fayette stated.
Both are banned from the college “indefinitely,” he stated. “If they are found to be on Haverford’s campus, their presence will be considered trespassing, and the College will contact local police.”
The college took action after a crowd of masked anti-Israel protesters showed up at a guest talk by The Times of Israel journalist Haviv Rettig Gur on Feb. 1.

CBS did update the story with a comment from DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, who stated: “Drug trafficking, Distribution of child pornography, burglary, fraud, DUI, embezzlement, solicitation of a minor, human smuggling are all categorized as ‘nonviolent crimes.’”
“Nearly 70% of criminal aliens detained by ICE have pending charges or prior convictions,” the law enforcement agency itself wrote in a response to CBS.
Others pointed out that someone can be deported even without a “violent crime.”
For context, 14% of ICE arrests are for violent criminals because crimes like Drug trafficking, Distribution of child pornography, burglary, fraud, DUI, embezzlement, solicitation of a minor, human smuggling are all categorized as “non violent crimes.”

Max Weiss, a professor of history and an outspoken advocate of an academic boycott of Israel, led a walkout of his History of Palestine/Israel class in April 2024 into McCosh Courtyard, where an anti-Israel encampment was established earlier that day. He taught his lesson from there, making him the first faculty member to lecture from the encampment, the Princeton Alumni Weekly reported. Weiss told the publication he hopes the illegal encampment will one day be commemorated with “a plaque.”
Princeton placed Weiss on probation through the 2024-2025 school year for the move, which dean of the faculty Gene Jarrett described as “unprofessional,” “coercive,” and “intimidatory” in a notice to Weiss, according to the PAW. Weiss’s career advanced anyway—Princeton granted Weiss tenure around the same time he was notified that he had been placed on probation.
Weiss has been at the center of anti-Israel campus activism. When 13 students and 2 faculty members stormed and occupied Princeton’s Clio Hall in April 2024 “in solidarity with the Palestinian people of Gaza,” Weiss served as their spokesman. He was filmed standing on the steps of the building, bullhorn in hand, leading a call and response with assembled activists cheering on the occupiers.

Israeli measures to tighten its control of the West Bank have prompted a global backlash, including a signal from Washington restating the Trump administration’s opposition to annexation of the occupied territory.

The US constitution and Sharia are incompatible, and the conflict between the two legal systems will grow as Sharia adherents increase in number in the West. This fact has been obscured by misinformation about what Sharia is. When the city of Keller, Texas scrapped an anti-Sharia resolution in January 2026, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, stated that “like canon law for Catholics and halacha for Orthodox Jews, sharia refers to the rules that Muslims follow, including praying five times a day, fasting in Ramadan, giving in charity, and following the laws of the land in which they live.”
If that were really all that Sharia was about, no reasonable person would have any problem with it. CAIR doesn’t mention, however, that Sharia is inherently political, supremacist, expansionist, and violent. Far from being the “Islamophobic conspiracy theories” of CAIR’s imagining, these are facts that Muslim authorities on Sharia openly attest.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is investigating a “potentially illegal” development backed by a Dubai-based company in rural Kaufman County just months after filing a lawsuit against a Muslim development outside of Dallas.

U.S. federal authorities have taken control of more than 134 acres in Texas that had been used by a Mexican drug cartel for smuggling operations, according to an announcement from Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
In a post on X, CBP declared:
“We took the land and everything on it.”
A video accompanying the message showed law enforcement officers arresting multiple individuals and described the property as belonging to the westside Gulf Cartel, which it identified as a terrorist organization operating near Rio Grande City, Texas.
“They thought they were untouchable,” the video stated.
“They were wrong. Over 134 acres of land and property, taken from the westside Gulf Cartel, a terrorist organization operating near Rio Grande City, Texas.”
The Gulf Cartel, a Mexico-based drug trafficking organization, has been linked to arms smuggling, human trafficking, kidnappings, and murders involving American citizens.
Authorities have also warned that cartels sometimes exploit U.S. land, including areas affected by sanctuary policies or tribal sovereignty, to cultivate marijuana and stage smuggling activity.
CBP issued a direct warning to cartel networks:
“You think this is just about arrests? It’s not.
“We are dismantling your operations from the ground up.
“We’re cutting out your safe houses, your staging areas, your corridors.

A city memo shows the reparations fund recently received $276,588 from Evanston’s real estate transfer tax, and officials have discussed additional revenue sources, including a potential tax on Delta-8 THC products, to sustain the initiative.
Ald. Krissie Harris acknowledged the proposed tax would not dramatically increase funding but said it would still contribute to the program’s continuation.
“It’s really important for people to understand we pay as we have the money, and it’s not that we’re withholding from paying everyone,” Harris said, according to The Daily Northwestern.
“It’s just we have to accumulate the funds to make sure we can pay.”
As of January 31, the reparations fund had received no philanthropic donations this year and is currently supported primarily through cannabis sales tax revenue and real estate transfer taxes.
The program is also facing legal scrutiny.

The government shutdown will only impact federal workers under DHS because Congress approved funding legislation for all other departments and agencies for the remainder of the current fiscal year.
The biggest agency that is at the heart of the funding fight is Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which is not expected to be impacted by the shutdown because of an extra $75 billion in its operating budget that was passed by Congress last year. ICE is also considered essential to public safety so all of its operations would be expected to continue, even if workers did not get paid.

My parents talked about their families only a handful of times, so I have a few bare facts I gleaned for myself and some anecdotes/photos I’ve obtained from cousins. I never knew my grandparents and had the barest contact with aunts and uncles. I have ship manifests, etc. It seems my parents each left the past behind when they married and moved alone to California. So, all in all, I don’t think I have a clear understanding of who they were. Since much of my book is bare facts, a few memories, and conjecture, having AI help me is sufficient/efficient.
