I wonder sometimes if we’ve always had crazies like this, and they just have more and wider outlets now...or they were just less inclined to expose themselves in the past for various reasons.
The interconnectedness of our past society would have ferreted these people out.
They would have been known by the people of their neighborhood, by their cousins, by the people at their church, by the people at the market where they shopped, etc....
This person would have been identified as a psycho and institutionalized 50 years ago.
Our new lack of a cohesive society allows these monsters to lurk in the shadows and hurt normal people when they have the chance.
