I’m 64. If someone starts a fight with me, I’m likely to be killed. So my strategy is to kill them first. I don’t have a lot of skills. So if they’re down on the floor, they could get up and kill me yet. So I’ll stomp their neck and kill them dead. What am I supposed to do, be chivalrous and give them another chance? What about their buddies waiting in the wings? I’ve got fractions of a second to survive. I’m gonna kill, then look around for the next threat.
The older you get, the less life in prison is a deterrent.
