Considering his talent and experience the song should be better. To my ear he’s imitating himself with those Dylanesq elongated vowels that he did more subtly in his youth. I have t heard McCartneys 911 song in years it I think it blows this Springsteen thing away.

When I think McCartney as a songwriter, I always smile at the backstory of “Silly Love Songs”, which went to No 1 with the following chorus
