It was NASA's organizational focus on diversity and positive publicity for the shuttle launches in the mid-1980s that compromised the safety of the mission.
Take a look at the photos of the astronaut crews for the first half-dozen missions after the shuttle program was resumed two and a half years after the Challenger disaster. All the PR-type nonsense was pushed out of the way, the primary focus of the missions was on delivering military payloads, and the crews were 100% white and 95% male.
You have, of course, spoken an unspeakable truth ... something that’s guaranteed to produce a furious reaction.
The disaster that day had nothing to do with the Astronauts. It was NASA bass that failed. People should have gone to prison. It was completely avoidable.
