Honestly, he looked like a wimp, a nancy nurse boi headed for a jail house reaming
from his new best friends. The LEOs saved him a lot of pain and humiliation.
And another perq was that his death was instant. He didn't linger for a week in ICU
in pain with the life slowly ebbing out of him.

I just watched a video, where a man breaks down shots from other videos to demonstrate what actually/probably happened. It shows that his gun was loaded...as they wrestled with him, one noticed his gun and shouted, “gun”, that’s when some drew their weapons. The man that disarmed him was moving away when the weapon went off (as that type weapon has a history of doing unintentionally) and it looks like they were keyed up and since it was within a second of the disarming, word hadn’t gotten around and it looks lie their response reaction was “contagious” gunfire, which is perfectly understandable under the conditions.
