Technically nobody "needs" eggs in their diet, or meat, or vegetables, or fruit, or grain, or fish, or sugar or a bunch of other stuff.

You do need water and salt but aside from that most nutrients are available in a wide variety of forms. Some of them tastier and some of them easier to digest.

Humans are omnivores and able to live on a wide variety of foods, many which are poisonous to other mammals.

That's what anthropology tells us. There is no particular diet that humans have to eat. The basis is protein and fat. Humans can synthesize carbohydrates from protein. That's how people in arctic climates survive but all humans can do it.
There are no vegetarian primitive societies but people can survive not eating meat.
