I went to the Chicago CES during finals week in 1983. It was incredible. Back then, no online announcements. It happened there, and a lot if technologies were starting at the same time… CDs, ColecoAdam, 2GB Worm drives, IBM clones, 10 lb portable computers from NEC and Toshiba, big screen TVs, fancy answering machines. The magic will never again be what it was.
Fascinating to me. I was born in 1984, so obviously this would’ve been well before my time, but one of my favorite subjects is computing history. I love collecting the old 8-bit relics and have several Commodore machines on the collection shelf.
Did you happen to see some of their stuff during your time at CES 1983?
