Fascinating to me. I was born in 1984, so obviously this would’ve been well before my time, but one of my favorite subjects is computing history. I love collecting the old 8-bit relics and have several Commodore machines on the collection shelf.
Did you happen to see some of their stuff during your time at CES 1983?
I was just starting to be a video game writer, but had mostly dedicated systems. I knew Coleco, Atari, CPM, MSX, but not Apple II or Comm 64. I knew someone with a Commodire PET in the 70s. Good keyboard, Excellent sound chip (favored by phreakers), but the floppy drive was the slowest thing imaginable. At that time, Amiga was an independent joystick company. Jack Tramiel was a visionary.
