Today the police chiefs in several US cities kiss up to the woke mayors and councils and are all soft on crime.
These people begin shadowing the journalist. They are part of the Somali Fraud Network. They begin calling around.
When the calls hit the right people in the Somali Fraud Network, the calls go out from them to connected politicians (if not directly to the Chief of Police) and these people, probably on the take too, show up in an attempt to intimidate and isolate the knowledge of the fraud.

This “chief” has clearly failed in his job and is equally bad in his attempt to be a theologian in his version of the birth of Christ. Once he gets his just reward with from the feds investigating fraud, he might be accepted on the ditch-digging crew at his new prison home. That would be his best use.
