Future world slide.....Elon would need a lot of solar panels I think.... It would take a lot of Silica for the semiconductors. (Silica sand running low I understand!) Long Term Collecting and smelting enough metals to establish space stations from space would require a lot of energy. (Mining trips to the asteroid belt and stuff..)

I suppose that you could funnel or use mirrors to send sunlight directly into a direct heat collection system that would create steam and drive turbines. No birds in space so no problems with sad flaming "Streamers". If never in the earth's shadow then continual sunlight so continual energy generation without those annoying 10 to 12 hour no-power pauses.
