“Once upon a time,
you paid 50 bucks for a steak only if your waiter wore a tux.
Now you pay it under fluorescent lights at the supermarket.”

Ain’t that the truth.
Couldn’t afford it then and refuse to pay it now.
BUY LOCAL!
When I was a kid, my grandaddy had about 40-50 head of cattle. He sold/bought some at the local stock market and also butchered one or two in late fall/early winter for the family. Although we didn’t have in-home freezers like available today, about 10 miles away there was a town with a community locker freezer. My folks rented space there, drawer-size to walk-in depending on how much you could afford for the rental and the meat to store in it.
Don’t know if community freezers are even in existence these days. Do know there are local farmers who sell halves and quarters direct.
We buy all of our meat from farmers.
“BUY LOCAL...we didn’t have in-home freezers like available today...community locker freezer... Do know there are local farmers who sell halves and quarters direct.”
Community freezers used to be quite common around here because almost everyone had their own animals to butcher. I havent heard of anyone using one since around 2000 so I dont really know if we have those around here any more either.
There are a couple of individuals even on this forum that get rather hysterical and start calling names when someone suggests buying local. They think you just arent American if you arent supporting a big rancher out west.
Here we still have some local grocery stores that do fresh processing nearly every day. There is a set of loading docks in the back for all the cookies and cases of soup and such then there is a separate loading dock that leads to the kill floor. Provided the right things go into the right loading dock, the animals go in the back and come out in the butchers case. There is no need to invest in big home freezers if someone doesnt want to. You buy how ever many of whatever cuts suits you and its still local. You may even know who raised it.
The things I dont process myself I try to buy that way whenever possible. I can hear some saying as I normally would when people make suggestions, “Sure, that all fine and dandy as long as you can afford the premium for custom produced meat from some kind of boutique butcher.” Thats just it though, it is generally much cheaper and of better quality than what I would get at a modern grocery chain that was processed by JBS, etc. I can get different cuts than what is available at the chains if I wish so a person that knows how to cook can really extend the grocery budget.
I do realize that converting modern grocery stores to have kill floors especially in metropolis areas isnt really possible. It is possible though to have many small processing facilities just on the outskirts processing the animals and making deliveries.
The globalists dont want this model as it leaves us far too independent and much harder to choke off with intentionally engineered famine the way they attempted to do during the cootie hoax.
