One of the biggest bank heists in German history took place over Christmas – and no one noticed for days.

Inside the underground vault, bank robbers emptied most of the 3,300 safety deposit boxes rented to 2,700 customers for several hours.

At least 2,500 people banking with Sparkasse were affected, with officials advising customers to just assume their belongings were stolen.

Other customers questioned the bank’s security measures, noting that even Lidl and Aldi supermarkets have motion detectors.

—”Would you bank with a company called spark ass??”

With a name like that, they’d best go easy on the sauerkraut

—”THE BEAGLE BOYS!!”

YES, and they tunneled under Uncle Mc Duck’s vault and into the bottom, dumping MILLION$ into underground caverns!

The Terra-Firmians who lived there saw all of it as garbage and pushed it back to the earth’s surface...

The elderly landlord of a building I was renting passed after a long illness... His wife said they had all the papers ready for his death and were in their safe deposit box.

As they had planed she stopped on the way home from the hospital at the bank for the papers.
The State had already sealed their deposit box!!
Less than 15 minutes after he had died.

He and his family were heavy hitters in the county political arena.

My misspent youth, gone but not forgotten.

Then it was into the abyss with UNAPPROVED comics that did not meet the Comic Code...

Rififi (1955) is a French heist film. A gang cuts a hole in the ceiling of a jewelry shop.

Not bad.

“ he said it slows them down and needs more water for cooling.”
Rebar and granite rocks/gravel will really slow down the cut speed. Some really hard rock will wear out the blade.
Inside job for sure.

Other customers questioned the bank’s security measures, noting that even Lidl and Aldi supermarkets have motion detectors.

Motion detectors cheap. Self contained power supply with cell phone communication to security.

Sound monitoring cheap, with said same cell phone communication. You do not dig through concrete quietly.

Pressurization detectors cheap. Keep the vault vault slightly depressurized, a breach would change the pressure and alert via said same cell phone communication.

Cameras would be nice also. All the above would be cheap and could be done for a few tens of thousand dollars. What we have is either vast incompetence or an inside job.

Note: Cell phone communications inside a vault are almost impossible. Detectors in the vault and wiring to the outside cell phone type communication or hard lines.

All systems are independent of each other and a failure of any would set off alarms.

This same crew is also believed to be responsible for the break-in at the Somali day care center where valuable (and incriminating) records were stolen.
