They lack a vagus nervous system. I doubt they experience pain in any meaningful sense of the word at all.

There is no reason to inflict harm on creatures that God has put for us to be stewards of and consume if new data and methods improve that understanding so be it. We always flash chill our crabs,lobster and mudbugs they are fast asleep when that great trip to the seasoned waters happens.
You can readily see the difference if they are warm and fully alive they thrash around for at least a minute if chilled first they don’t move at all seems pretty clear cut.
