Albanese sets 'immediate' gun control priorities following Bondi Beach terror attack
SBS News ^ | December 15, 2025 | Rashida Yosufzai

National Cabinet has vowed strengthen Australia's gun laws in the wake of the Bondi Beach terror attack.

In a statement following the snap meeting on Monday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said "immediate" priorities included a crackdown on 3D-printed weapons, tighter limits on the number of firearms a person can own, gun imports, and equipment that can hold large amounts of ammunition.

Albanese also said police ministers and attorneys-general across the nation had been tasked with developing a number of policies which would limit Australians' access to firearms.

They include a requirement that all licence-holders are Australian citizens, deeper background checks and more regular reviews once someone has a permit.

It's the worst mass shooting in Australia since the 1996 Port Arthur massacre, when a lone gunman shot dead 35 people, prompting a wave of gun control measures, including a ban on assault rifles and shotguns.

NSW Police say one of the alleged gunmen — the 50-year-old father who was shot dead — was a licensed firearms holder, with six guns licenced to him.

"We will take every step we possibly can to keep our community safe and we'll be looking at law reform along that route," Minns told reporters on Monday.

"This is an attempt to break apart our social life, to divide Australian against Australian. There's a massive role for the government, NSW Police and regular citizens to play here to ensure that we keep our community safe. And I won't hesitate to move legislation if it's required."

Maybe they should consider a ban on low mental capacity assault muzzloids.

Well, the guy he took the gun from was a few fee away, and the other armed assailant was still busily shooting civilians. The police didn’t show up for half an hour and then they hid til they thought it was safe. It appears the government have not only disarmed the citizens, they’ve castrated them to boot.

One brave citizen took out one of the murders bare handedly and took his rifle away from him but then leaned it up against the tree like it was a problem?

It was a shotgun. Ahmed al Ahmed, the man who disarmed the terrorist, had no experience with firearms. It appeared he was unable to make the shotgun fire. A shot was fired during the disarm. The shotgun may have been empty when he took it.

UK, France, Canada, Australia have all called for a palestinian state.
It seems that the attacks have increased since.

Typical government reaction to a problem they created. Their solution is always more government and less liberty. Why is anyone surprised when the government allows virtually unrestricted immigration of members of a death cult.

Another possibility is that he didn’t know how to operate a pump shotgun or it was out of shells since a typical pump shotgun will only hold 5 rounds.

The shotgun had an extended magazine, which often holds 8 to 10 shotgun shells.

Ya, let’s take away guns from people that are not allowed to own guns? Maybe they’ll allow rocks for protection?

The guy would have no idea when the police would show up.

I haven't seen any news of how the shooting happened, any time line or map of where the shooters were in relation to the man that disarmed the son. So, I don't know if he could have taken a shot at the father.

But, consider was this man familiar with firearms.

Consider he lives in Australia where he very well could be prosecuted for shooting the murderous father. (I don't know if that is the case, but it is possible in some states in the US).

Maybe we should celebrate this man's bravery for disarming a man in the midst of committing mass murder instead of second guessing his actions immediately after.

Their religion dictates what for a Christian is insane behavior.

This simple fact is what I think would be determined to be the Root Cause of this mass shooting.

Islam teaches that a man can gain Heaven by dying while killing non-Muslims.

Islam reinforces the worst instincts of human nature. In a “state of nature” which for man is essentially tribal, anyone outside the tribe is an enemy, either a problem to be eliminated or a resource to be used.

In most American Indian tribes the words for “stranger” and “enemy” are the same.

Is there any relation to 3D guns in this attack?

It was the father who was disarmed, not the son. The son continued shooting. The son gestured for the father to rejoin him at a footbridge. When the father rejoined the son, he accessed another long gun and started shooting at people again. At some point, both Ahmed al Ahmed and another man who tried to get the shotgun to work, but could not, were both shot. Ahmed was wounded. It is not yet known if the other man survived.

It appeared Ahmad (the shopkeeper - hero) either didn’t know how to operate the gun or it was out of ammo. Then it appeared to me, from the way he sort of looked over, and from his demeanor, he was afraid HE would be ID’d as an attacker. He may (may!) have even taken “friendly fire” - it is very unclear who shot him twice.

The younger terrorist was known to authorities to be connected to other terrorists, but they apparently didn’t keep an eye on him. THAT is the problem, but, the weasel gov’t will do anything to blame firearms instead of the real failure: Themselves.

If you look at the takedown of one of the perps, it was a military bolt-action rifle…the type that Oz outlawed and confiscated 20 +/- years ago.

What is that dipshit talking about…printed assault weapons?

Article:

“”We will take every step we possibly can to keep our community safe and we’ll be looking at law reform along that route,” Minns told reporters on Monday.”

Blatant lie.

If they were actually interested in keeping the people safe they would immediately:

1. Deport all Muslims

2. Allow citizens to arm to the teeth to defend themselves

“Muslims are not insane.”

Correct.

Muslims are very sane.

They celebrate their group identity and want to conquer everyone else.

Back in the old days regular white folks were like that.

Not that I know of.

But you did provoke a thought.

Maybe having Muslims in Australia is a a way of insuring that violence and crisis continue unabated.

This permits the government to continue to clamp down on civil liberties.

DEI shaming the people prevents them from retaliating against the government ballot box.
