The new genomic data from the Old Kingdom provides powerful reinforcement against the population replacement myth. The individual’s gene pool (~80% local, ~20% West Asian) aligns with the idea that modern Egyptians carry a deep ancestral component traceable to the early pharaonic population, rather than being the result of later invading groups.

“The new genomic data from the Old Kingdom provides powerful reinforcement against the population replacement myth.”

That’s a bit of a broad statement, unless you’re only applying it to Egypt. After all, it’s CLEARLY happening in Western Europe, the US, and virtually (maybe all) English-speaking countries.

My understanding is that the egyptian coptic christian carry the dna with the closest match to the pharoahs. that the later arab muslim populations do not have as close of a match.

Is this correct. Or is the article arguing that all of egypt —not just the copts—have the same ancient dna signature.
