Silver prices have punched through $60 per ounce for the first time amid a historic rally driven by a scarcity of supply and a surge in demand from investors.

The metal has more than doubled in price since January, as years of undersupply, compounded by strong demand from industrial users and investors, led to shortages and a severe supply squeeze in October.

Silver jumped 4 per cent on Tuesday to reach $60.4 per ounce, a fresh record high. Gold also rose 0.7 per cent to reach $4,216 per troy ounce, slightly below the record set in October.

This week expectations of a rate cut by the US Federal Reserve, which meets Wednesday, have boosted precious metals.

“In the very near term, the focus is on the Fed rate meeting,” said Suki Cooper, analyst at Standard Chartered.

“Underlying the move is the fact that we have a market that has been undersupplied for the past five years, and we still have regional stocks dislocation,” she added.....

Right now, demand for silver has never been higher. The paper contracts on silver, THEY DO NOT HAVE, is what is holding back the rise of silver. They shut down COMEX the day after Thanksgiving because they could not complete a contract that wanted physical silver.

Demand is up for industrial uses for silver from car batteries to solar is exploding. Combined with the fake paper silver being traded, and more and more people and countries want REAL actual silver is going to come to a head at some point.

They have been illegally manipulating the price of silver for some time now and chickens are starting to roost. I see no way this turns out good for them. Demand in the East is seriously exploding and they want real gold and silver. India, China, and others know this to be a real source of wealth and not paper or paper money.

“We started stacking silver 20 months ago. It’s fun watching the spot price to go up, not much fun buying though. But still, I think silver at $60 is still a buy”

Seems the gap has widened over the last few years. Spot maybe $60 but if trying to sell or buy, figure $8-9 dollar difference. Closer to $50 to sell and $70 to buy. Confirmed over at Kitco.com

https://solarpanelquestions.com/how-much-silver-in-a-solar-panel-key-insights-revealed/

A 100-watt rated thin film panel would have about 1/6th of an ounce of silver, a polycrystalline panel about 1/4th of an ounce.

“That’s why I said in recent years.”

Your posts first sentence:

“Not to brag but I started getting in in the 90’s when it was at 12. “

But after FDR stole all the gold it was revalued at $35 on ounce making the ratio 35:1 for Silver. I have 50 pounds of Silver American Eagles and assorted Silver Dollars.

“Buying silver over the years is worth bragging about.”

Not when investing in stocks is more profitable.

I’m kicking myself. A few months back I sold my 100 oz silver bar for gold. Would have been better to hold. Would have been an easy double. 😒

That’s what I was thinking. Didn’t the Bass family try to corner the silver market around 79-80?

Would have been better to hold.

Better to have sold a 100 oz gold bar for silver.

I remember silver being $50 an ounce in 1980.

My father urged me to sell all the 90% silver coins I had collected as a kid and I took his advice and did so.
