For the first time in program history, Indiana is the Big Ten champion and No. 1 team in college football following Saturday night's 13-10 triumph over Ohio State. The win catapults the Hoosiers to the top spot in Sunday's updated AP Top 25 rankings. Behind Heisman frontrunner Fernando Mendoza at quarterback and a Herculean defensive effort, the Hoosiers were elite in the red zone, highlighted by a fourth-and-1 stop at their own 5 late in the third quarter.

Way back in the day, Notre Dame practically WAS college football. They didn't even deign to go to bowl games until the 1960s. Of course that was a long time ago and times have changed. The Irish need to upgrade their schedule with tougher opponents - not that they are to blame for USC and Stanford not being great this year - and yes, maybe break down and join a conference.

It’s brilliant to make sure the Cinderella stories always have a chance and putting in the best of the non Power conferences to go against #5 and #6 is a good way to open up this possibility. If they can beat #5 and then #4 (or #6 then #3) then they have proven they belong and the semis/final will be their chance to prove it. those schools in the Power 4 that don’t make the top 8 are not championships worthy so if they do happen to get in then it’s just a fluke & anyone else not in the top 8 should stop complaining.
The 2nd best team this year is the Cougars and they are going to get snubbed this year for sure because this school from Lubbock beat up on them big time twice - 29 to 7 and then 34 to 7 yesterday. So even though they are the 2nd best they aren’t good enough for the championships and they will end up instead in the Alamo Bowl. Whether or not that school from Lubbock is the best in the country is going to be tested during the next 5 weeks as not everyone in America, especially in Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, and Oregon, is 100% supportive of just letting the boys from Lubbock win it all. One thing for sure about the boys from Lubbock is that they are spoilers. If the Cougars had just scored at least 1 more TD every quarter in both games then it would have been better. Why they didn’t was because of that obstruction happy linebacker #10 Rodriguez with the mustache. If your favorite team goes up against him then you better get a court-approved stalking injunction order in place first or else you lose ;)
Alabama still got in despite losing to an unranked FSU, ND's both losses were against ranked teams.
Apparently, you won't get penalized for losing to an unranked team as long as you're a SEC team.

I agree, Mendoza had a great game and won’t likely be the top pick of the draft. The OSU QB Sayin has potential - He’s only a freshman. But I think he needs to increase his arm strength because his ball floats.

I have nothing against the players, but the hype surrounding the Heisman is a distraction, IMHO.
Dave Portnoy is a commentator, who on live tv, called someone who is both a Buckeye fan and a Tom Brady fan, a total moron. The person was way in the background and would never have been noticed by anyone, except for Portnoy pointing it out, and the cameras swinging around to find the person. That fan didn’t deserve that.
For those who aren’t familiar with the area, there are tons of fans of both teams, because that just happens.
