[Then one or more of those officers had to compartmentalize all that to aim and fire at the moving dogs as accurately as possible so as to miss the victims, knowing the pack may turn on them in the blink of an eye.

I hope they get proper recognition and find their money’s no good for a while at their favorite establishments.]

If the dogs came after the cops, they should indeed be recognized for standing fast. But in general, even bears bail out after warning shots. It’s the plight of animals with a highly-developed sense of hearing, whether bears or dogs, that very loud sounds seem to cause physical pain in ways a human would not suffer. The first shot would likely send them fleeing the source of the sound. While not 100% effective, most of the time, even grizzlies flee gunshots.

while the tiny tot was still being attacked by their 7 dogs, all of which police had to gun down to reach the bloodied victims. The infant had tragically died by the time cops fought their way to her.

These dogs didn't get the memo about fleeing when hearing gunshots.
