Go to the base visitor’s center. It’s usually just outside the gate. Explain the situation. They’ll take your DL and issue you a day pass. If you have a VA ID card they may take that. Unless you have a service related ID card (VA, DoD medically retired etc.) you likely don’t qualify for a base access type ID. So just do the day passes. Same way civilians do it.

Many thanks! I have no military ID (discharged 1975) and like I said I don't get any kind of pension. Groton,CT and Chicopee,MA are about an hour drive from me so I suppose I could bring my driver's license and passport...and maybe a copy of my DD-214...and try my luck.

If I'm allowed to enter I assume that they won't allow my car on base so I'll just have to find someplace not too far from the gate. I just hope that when they "wand" me they believe that I have two metal hips. I've never had a problem at airports.
