I was stationed in Germany for 4+ years, lived in Traben-Trarbach, a lovely town on the Mosel River. We received a fair amount of snow, it was damn cold for at least four months out of the year. The best remedy for the “Hahn Crud” was gluhwein and Jagermeister.

Field duty sucked, miserable 24/7. I missed most of that at Hahn Air Base, as I was in the Wing CP during alerts (Army Liasion Officer). I was the only officer besides the CO with a TS clearance.
